About the Project: An Impact assessment study report was made by FISS for the four different projects initiated by the District Administration. These projects were:
- Water Hyacinth based livelihood project of Guijan Handicraft Society Limited, Tinsukia, Assam.
- Community-Based Hoolock Gibbon Conservation Project in Tinsukia District, Assam.
- Relocation & Rehabilitation of Laika Forest Villages of Dibru Saikhowa National Park to degraded areas of Namphai Reserved Forest of Tinsukia District.
- The bio-mining legacy waste management in Tinsukia District.
Objective:
- To understand the Impact of the initiatives implemented in the long run.
- To have a track & knowledge of the ongoing scenarios in the different projects.
- To understand the requirements & suggestions for better implementation & functioning of the initiatives.
- To spread awareness among the community people about the projects.
Impact: The "Mission Life" (Lifestyle for Environment) initiatives, focuses on promoting sustainable living to combat climate change. At the district level, administrations play a crucial role in implementing the initiative through various actions:
- Raising Awareness: Districts engaged communities through awareness programs, school initiatives, and eco-friendly campaigns to educate people on reducing their carbon footprints & make proper utilization of sustainable products.
- Sustainable Resource Management: Implementing waste management systems lead to cleaner, more sustainable communities.
- Policy Implementation: Local governments incentivized sustainable practices through rewards for using renewable energy or reducing waste, and integrate sustainability into development plans.
- Job Creation: Green jobs in areas like renewable energy and waste management help boost local economies while promoting sustainability.
- Biodiversity Conservation: District established protected areas and community forests to preserve local ecosystems and biodiversity.
